What’s the #latestinNOW? A new series of drawings by #JennySaville is on view at #GagosianDaviesSt, London through July 9th. “The title ‘Erota’ for the show is related to the ancient Greek concept of eros: the idea of a creative life force and love of the body,” writes Saville. Gagosian’s Richard Calvocoressi discusses the inspiration behind Saville’s new body of work in a text on NOW (www.gagosian.com/NOW) __________ Image: “Reflective Flesh study (Red),” 2015, charcoal and pastel on paper mounted on board, 78 3/4 × 59 13/16 inches (200 × 152 cm) © Jenny Saville. Really glad I caught Jenny Saville’s exhibition in @gagosiangallery Davies St this week. Also loved the surprising but highly effective pairing of Giacometti and Yves Klein in the Grosvenor Hill Gagosian. Highly recommend checking them out if you get a chance.

@mariakreyn is a Russian born, New York based artist often described as a realist, and while she has a command of painting the human figure, her exquisitely rendered oil paintings are more concerned with what we can’t see. To borrow a quote from Aristotle, one of her favorite philosophers, “The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Kreyn carries this notion with her as she works, seeking to depict people in a realistic light, while capturing their essence and soul. “I make work that looks to infinity- that’s spiritually driven,” she says. – Read more on HiFructose.com. #MariaKreyn #HiFructose #art #oilpainting #painting #portrait #figurative
