I love Weston Super-Mare like I love eating ice cream in the rain. We coulda stayed there until its gentrified to trumptopian levels but we had to get home to our own amusements. ICY SIGNS BROOKLYN IS OPEN and potential is always in stock. so come through to 72 Fourth Ave 11217 . thanks @juxtapozmag for the flick and of course the boss and the lovely staff at Dismaland for the honest work.

Can’t get enough of Michael Reeder’s @reederone Portraits; now on Hi-Fructose. #painting #hifructose p.s. We discovered his fantastic work through our submissions section on our site. While we receive well over 100 submissions each day, the editors do look at each properly made submission.

“House Of The Rising Sun” August 1964: People asked in 1964, “who are these long haired guys from England?” The Animals had their biggest commercial success with the traditional folk song #HouseOfTheRisingSun followed by #DontLetMeBeMisunderstood #WeGottaGetOutOfThisPlace #ItsMyLife #SanFranciscoNights #Monterey #SkyPilot. What people didn’t know at the time was their hair would grow longer as the years passed! #TheAnimals #EricBurdon #AlanPrice #JohnSteel #ChasChandler #HiltonValentine #MickGallagher

A detail from an older drawing – “Black Veil” charcoal on paper. • This pieces was done Rives BFK, which is a paper I really loved working with – especially on larger format pieces. It has really nice tooth, giving each mark great character, and allowing me to go heavy and thick in the dark areas. The effect of the veil on this piece took a light touch – a lot of holding my breath and controlling my breathing. I’ve done a lot of physical work in my day, but I’ve never been so spent as after a day of working on a portrait (with an impending deadline breathing in your ear ;-) • #blackveil #charcoaldrawing #drawingonpaper drawing #goodolfashionpaper #julioart #julioreyesart #veil #closeupsareamust

James Jean James Jean (@jamesjeanart) needs little introduction — he’s huge! and for good reason. I find his work really surprising, in that the artistic decisions he makes would have never occurred to me — they make no sense to my brain — but they often totally work. it’s totally inspiring. and he doesn’t seem to recycle those decisions, almost every piece has some move that intrigues me — and I find it totally amazing that he has such an arsenal. everything looks new and unique, but still like a James Jean. how does he do that?
